Harvest 2023: A Prized Vintage Between Challenges and Success

By 13 October 2023August 22nd, 2026No Comments

Wrapping up the harvest is always a thrilling moment for any wine estate. Every season brings its own challenges and rewards. And now, with the 2023 harvest complete, we’re delighted to announce that this year has proven exceptional for Villa Dianella.

Despite the difficult weather conditions faced in spring, the 2023 harvest stands out for the exceptional quality of the grapes gathered and, surprisingly, for their quantity too. The agronomic techniques used favoured the development of ripe, healthy grapes full of character, reflected in the intensity and complexity of the wines produced.

Our wines are currently completing the delicate malolactic fermentation process, a crucial step that contributes to the wine’s balance and structure. This fermentation, which takes place in wood and concrete vessels, converts malic acid into lactic acid, giving the wine greater softness and complexity.

Special thanks go to our farm manager, Vincenzo, whose skill in the vineyard was decisive for the success of this vintage. His commitment and dedication confirmed a fundamental, and often overlooked, principle: great wines are made in the vineyard, not in the cellar. Attention to detail, care for the vines, and the ability to respond to the challenges nature presents were essential to achieving a harvest of such high quality.

In short, the 2023 harvest is a tribute to the synergy between people and nature, and we can’t wait to share the result of this passionate work with wine lovers everywhere. Perfection is rarely achieved in the world of wine, but this year we come very close to that ideal.
